Corps to help fund, expedite new reservoir

SFWMD A map shows the layout of a state-approved expedited deeper water storage area within the Everglades Agricultural Area below Lake Okeechobee. The water storage, located inside the A-2 Parcel, is expected to curve harmful lake discharges while providing more water to Everglades National Park and Florida Bay.


SOUTH FLORIDA — The quest for a billion-dollar water storage project to curb harmful Lake Okeechobee discharges and send more freshwater south into the Everglades and Florida Bay took a big step forward last week.
