Think of the Everglades as a patient in an operating room about to undergo a life-saving procedure. What are the materials and equipment necessary to ensure this patient is diagnosed properly, survives the operation and is closely monitored to ensure its future health?
The Everglades Foundation science team has created a scientific operation "wish-list" ranging from computer hardware and software to scholarships and IT solutions that can be supported by your generous donations. Below is the wish-list items that need your support to allow a variety of scientific Everglades research projects to be conducted in with the resources that will provide the most accurate assessments needed to save the River of Grass.
- T-1 line - $6,000 - Enhance communication between a variety of scientific organizations working with the Everglades Foundation on synthesizing research findings
- Scholarships - $500 - 5,000 - Needed to provide university researchers with stipends as they work on Everglades restoration studies with Foundation scientists
- Computers - $4,000 - Document management system to provide student researchers with adequate computer hardware in support of Everglades research projects
- Underwater Video Camera - $4,000 - Needed to monitor the response of Everglades restoration projects on a variety of indicator species
- Digital Projector - $4,500 - Presentation equipment needed for major ecosystem restoration conferences and seminars
- Portable Audio System - $5,000 - Needed to monitor the response of Everglades restoration projects on a variety of indicator species
