Negron wants more land for Everglades reservoir

TALLAHASSEE — Senate President Joe Negron said Thursday he wants the state to negotiate by the end of March for another 4,000 to 5,000 acres of private land for an Everglades reservoir.

Gov. Rick Scott signed FL SB10 (17R) last year to authorize a reservoir to help divert discharges from Lake Okeechobee that were blamed in 2016 for algae blooms that discouraged coastal tourism.
