GAVRIEL CAMBRIDGE

Virginia Tech

I am Gavriel Cambridge, and I am a rising senior studying Biological Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech. This summer at FIU I am working with a graduate student in Dr. Tiffany Troxler's lab to study changes to carbon pooling as they relate to saltwater intrusion. We are comparing soil carbon characteristics, pore water DOC, and other pore water constituents across a brackish and freshwater site to examine any changes that may happen in the future should more freshwater marshes experience saltwater intrusion. As an REU, I am most looking forward to spending time learning about some of the work being done in the wetland ecosystems around South Florida. In my free time I enjoy wildlife photography and spending time outside. While here for the REU, I have spent most of my free time in the swamps of Big Cypress attempting to photograph a Florida Panther using my custom made DSLR camera trap setup.
