Celebrating America's Everglades in Washington D.C.

South Dade Spotlight, July, 2026

The Everglades Foundation was featured in South Dade Spotlight following two days of celebration, collaboration, and advocacy in Washington, D.C. Foundation partners, board members, and clean water advocates came together to recognize the progress of Everglades restoration and encourage continued federal support for this critical effort.

The visit began with the America’s Everglades Dinner at the National Archives Museum. During the event, guests celebrated the bipartisan leadership that has helped advance major restoration projects. The Foundation also presented the 2026 America’s Everglades Champion Award to U.S. Representatives Mario Diaz-Balart and Debbie Wasserman Schultz, recognizing their leadership in securing billions of dollars in federal funding for Everglades restoration.

The following day, 75 Foundation supporters and environmental partners met with members of Congress and their staff on Capitol Hill. These conversations highlighted the importance of restoring an ecosystem that provides drinking water to millions of Floridians and supports South Florida’s environment and economy.

The message throughout the visit was clear: Everglades restoration is working, and continued investment is essential to maintaining its progress.
