Eric Eikenberg, CEO of The Everglades Foundation, joined Doug Evans, CEO of the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce, for a conversation about the connection between Everglades restoration and South Florida’s economy. The sold-out breakfast drew over 650 guests, making it the largest gathering in the Chamber’s history.

During the discussion, Eikenberg highlighted how communities such as Palm Beach and West Palm Beach depend on the Everglades for freshwater. He also spoke about the ecosystem’s importance to real estate, fishing, and tourism, emphasizing that the health of the Everglades is directly connected to Florida’s economic future.

Eikenberg also shared an update on the $4 billion Everglades Agricultural Area Reservoir, a critical restoration project under construction south of Lake Okeechobee. Read the full article to learn more about the Chamber breakfast and why Everglades restoration is essential to South Florida’s water, environment, and economy.
