Severe drought conditions in Florida are taking a toll on the iconic Everglades, where water levels have dropped sharply by mid-April. Officials warn that prolonged dry spells and below-average rainfall are accelerating the drying of wetlands, threatening wildlife, increasing wildfire risks, and disrupting the fragile ecosystem. Environmental experts say sustained drought could have long-term impacts on biodiversity and water management efforts across South Florida.
