“A passionate and vocal supporter of Everglades restoration”
The Everglades Foundation expresses sympathy on the death of U.S. Representative Alcee Hastings, Florida’s longest-serving member of Congress.
A Champion for the Everglades Until the Very End
“As the “Dean of the Florida Delegation,” Representative Hastings was a vocal supporter of Everglades restoration who co-chaired the Congressional Everglades Caucus,” said The Everglades Foundation CEO Eric Eikenberg. “Even in the last days of his life, Rep. Hastings joined his Florida colleagues in urging President Biden to fully fund Everglades restoration efforts in the coming budget at the level of $725 million. We extend our deepest sympathies to Representative Hastings’ family, staff and constituents.”
