Jennifer Diaz is the Vice President of Education at The Everglades Foundation, where she has dedicated the past 12 years to building and leading Florida’s only comprehensive, statewide Everglades environmental education program. Since joining the Foundation in 2014, she has guided the growth of the Everglades Literacy Program into a national model for place-based environmental learning, now adopted by 31 school districts and reaching more than 300,000 students and families annually.
Prior to her tenure at the Foundation, Diaz spent more than 15 years teaching mathematics and science at the elementary and middle school levels and developed deep expertise as a science coach and curriculum specialist. In Miami-Dade County Public Schools, she worked closely with administrators, teachers, students, and families — supporting low-performing schools, modeling effective science instruction, and elevating professionalism among STEM educators. She also served as a science leader, science club organizer, and team leader for the Southeastern Consortium for Minorities in Engineering (SECME).
Diaz holds a bachelor’s degree in health education/community health from Florida State University and a master’s in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She also earned a STEM Education teaching certificate from Columbia University’s Teachers College through the NASA Endeavor Fellowship Program.
Through her leadership, advocacy, and commitment to equitable access to environmental education, Diaz continues to shape the next generation of Everglades stewards and strengthen environmental literacy across Florida.
