Advocating for Federal Funding

Everglades Advocates Join Forces to Advance Restoration.

April 20, 2023 - The Everglades Foundation policy team traveled to Washington, D.C. to walk the halls of Congress and advocate for significant funding for Everglades restoration.

The legislative fly-in was done in partnership with Captains for Clean Water, the Everglades Trust, Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation, and representatives from the outdoor recreation industry.

The Orvis Company, our long-time partner in advocacy for Everglades restoration, placed a full-page ad on the Wall Street Journal urging Congress to fund Everglades restoration. The piece highlighted the critical importance of restoring this ecosystem for the outdoor recreation industry.

We appreciate the continued bipartisan support of the Florida delegation and the national imperative to restore America’s Everglades. Critical funding must go towards the construction of the EAA Reservoir, the most important project to reconnect the freshwater flow through the Everglades and reduce harmful discharges to the east and west coasts of Florida.
