The Everglades Foundation Mourns the Passing of Nicholas “Nick” G. Penniman IV

The Everglades Foundation is deeply saddened by the passing of Nicholas “Nick” G. Penniman IV, a former member of our Board of Directors, dedicated conservation advocate, and longtime supporter of Everglades restoration. Nick served on the Foundation's Board from 2009 to 2018. Through his leadership, thoughtful counsel, and commitment to our mission, he helped strengthen the Foundation during a pivotal period of growth and advocacy.

Nick believed that sound science and effective communication must work hand in hand to drive meaningful conservation progress. Drawing on a distinguished career in journalism and publishing, including his role as publisher of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and senior vice president of Pulitzer Publishing Company, he brought invaluable insight to the Foundation's efforts to educate the public and policymakers about the importance of Everglades restoration.

A passionate environmental steward, Nick dedicated much of his life to protecting natural resources. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Linda and the entire Penniman family. Nick's legacy will endure through the organizations he strengthened, the landscapes he helped protect, and the many people he inspired through a lifetime of service.
