With tireless Everglades advocate Governor Ron DeSantis and our legislative leaders – Senate President Kathleen Passidomo and House Speaker Paul Renner – we are confident that this session will continue to make meaningful progress toward restoring the Everglades.
Governor DeSantis, just days into his second term as Governor, signed an executive order renewing and increasing his funding commitment over the next four years for Everglades restoration, water quality initiatives and water supply protection, and he included $614 million for Everglades restoration in his budget recommendations. Ground was also broken on the Everglades Agricultural Area Reservoir, the most impactful of all the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan projects.
We’re hopeful this sets the tone for the legislative session, as one that continues to invest in America’s Everglades for the benefit of not just our environment but also our economy that is linked to it."
