Palmetto Bay, Fla. – The Everglades Foundation today released the following statement, attributed to its CEO Eric Eikenberg, on Governor Ron DeSantis signing the fiscal year 2025-26 budget.
“Thank you to Governor DeSantis for signing a budget that fully funds Everglades restoration and smartly invests in the Everglades, a $1-trillion state asset. Since Day One, the Governor has known the importance of the Everglades, and a recent study that we conducted that shows its significant value only underscores this.
“The investments the state has made in restoration are working and have yielded results for the state already.
“By signing a budget that fully funds restoration, the state will be able to continue to make meaningful progress restoring the natural flow of water south through the Everglades and realize more positive benefits from restoration.
“We appreciate the Governor’s continued support and advocacy of this critical project.”
