Friday, May 8, 2025 – The Everglades Foundation has launched Science in Action, a new six-part video series showcasing the passion and expertise of the Foundation’s science team. The series highlights how the work of each team member — including a biogeochemist, economist, ecologist and engineer — directly impacts the science of Everglades restoration and its value to our communities.
“Our science team is built to reflect the critical needs of Everglades restoration,” said Chief Science Officer Dr. Steve Davis. “We focus on hydrology, water quality, ecology, and resilience — all of which are essential to ensuring that restoration plans deliver the benefits we expect.”
Through Science in Action, viewers will see how scientific research at The Everglades Foundation doesn’t just stay within academic circles but actively shapes policies and projects that protect the Everglades and build a more resilient future for our region.
"It's interesting to collaborate on these projects because the model doesn’t just sit on my computer with numbers being crunched,” said Water Resources Engineer Gareth Lagerwall, Ph.D. “Our work feeds into salinity models, resiliency planning, advocacy efforts — and ultimately influences the direction that large-scale restoration projects take.”
Science in Action is now available to watch on The Everglades Foundation’s YouTube Channel and will be released on social media channels.
