Palmetto Bay, FL — Longtime Miami attorney and community advocate Douglas M. Halsey has been named to the Board of Directors of The Everglades Foundation, bringing more than 40 years of experience in environmental and land use law, as well as a deep commitment to public service.

Halsey began practicing law in Miami in 1979 and has since built a distinguished career,
including leadership roles at firms such as Halsey & Burns and White & Case LLP, where he headed the global environmental practice. Today, he continues to advise clients through his boutique firm, Douglas M. Halsey, P.A.
A graduate of Columbia University and the University of Miami School of Law, Halsey has been admitted to practice in Florida, New York, and Washington, D.C., and has argued cases before federal courts across the country. He also is a published author and frequent speaker on environmental and land use issues.
Beyond the courtroom, Halsey has made a lasting impact in South Florida through his work with organizations including United Way of Miami-Dade County, the Children’s Home Society of Florida, and Foster Care Review, Inc. He also has served on the boards of Our Kids, Inc. and the Southampton History Museum and currently sits as a Trustee of the Bridgehampton Museum.
In 1991, the Florida Bar honored him with the President’s Pro Bono Service Award, recognizing his dedication to serving those in need.
Halsey lives in Pinecrest with his wife, Amy. They are proud parents and grandparents. When not practicing law or volunteering, Halsey enjoys golf, tennis, and skiing.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Halsey to our Board of Directors, and look forward to the breadth of leadership and experience he brings to our organization and the community,” said The Everglades Foundation Chairman of the Board of Director Carlos M. de la Cruz, Jr.
