The Everglades Foundation’s CEO Eric Eikenberg today extended congratulations to Foundation Board Member Tom Davidson, Sr., in response to the announcement of his induction into the International Game Fish Association’s (IGFA) Fishing Hall of Fame.

“Tom Davidson is a visionary leader whose dedication to advancing science and Everglades restoration has set a remarkable standard for conservation,” said Eikenberg. “His commitment to supporting rigorous research, particularly in understanding the causes of fishery declines and championing clean water initiatives, has been instrumental in driving meaningful progress. We are privileged to have him serve more than 20 years on the Board of Directors of The Everglades Foundation, where his passionate advocacy and scientific approach continue to inspire our efforts to restore and protect the Everglades. I can think of no one more deserving of this prestigious honor.”

The IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame recognizes extraordinary achievements in recreational fishing around the world by anglers, captains, scientists, conservationists, writers, or fishing industry leaders. The first class was inducted in 1998 to honor the sport's luminaries. Each year, five new individuals are inducted through a rigorous committee process. According to the IGFA, Davidson’s induction into the Fishing Hall of Fame recognizes more than personal achievement; it honors a legacy of institution-building and conservation leadership. A distinguished business executive and former Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year, Davidson founded and led multiple companies operating across North America and Europe and chaired prominent leadership organizations.

In addition to serving on the Board of The Everglades Foundation, he has served on the Florida Keys Marine Sanctuary Advisory Board and as VP Director of Sanctuary Friends of the Florida Keys. Davidson’s founding of Bonefish & Tarpon Trust is recognized by the IGFA as a lasting contribution to the future of flats fisheries. What began as a response to declining bonefish in the Florida Keys has grown into an organization that consistently advances fisheries science and translates knowledge into meaningful conservation outcomes.

Davidson will be inducted into the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame on August 29 at Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium, where he will be honored with a biographical video and permanent plaque.
